Greetings from Whileaway is an imagined cover image for - or postcard from - the utopian planet in Joanna Russ's feminist science fiction short story When It Changed (1972). It is also a photo of my grandmother Marica (on the right) and her neighbour, who died some years ago.

On a lovely spring day, it was friendship at first sight. Ah!

But their loveliness was not meant to last. So they stood under the lurking shadow of...

...the cruel Yellow Bird of Doom! The creature rose its wings!


The cruel Yellow Bird of Doom attacked with venomous flakes!

And escaped!!! The twilight of the Idols came upon the poor.


Only absence witnessed their decease.

And yet, the question persists even in the Land of Play.


"The Yellow Bird of Doom" was made in Šebrelje in the summer of 2005 by Tea, Jože and Suzana.
